Independence Mall is the only enclosed regional mall within a 60-mile radius located in the heart of Wilmington, North Carolina. Surrounded by miles of unspoiled beaches and a historic downtown area, Wilmington is the largest city in southeastern North Carolina and eighth largest in the state. Wilmington is home to The University of North Carolina Wilmington, the Battleship North Carolina and global corporations including GE, Corning, Verizon and PPD. Independence Mall was originally built in 1979 and renovated in 2001. Independence Mall features over 1 million square feet of GLA anchored by Belk, Sears, JC Penney and Dillard’s and over 100 specialty retail shops.
Wheelchairs and strollers can be found in the Security Office off of Center Court across from Lee Nails or in the Dillard’s Wing in between Aeropostale and Children’s Place. They are FREE and on a first come, first server basis.
There are two ATMs located in Independence Mall. One is in Center Court and one in the Food Court.

Mall Walking is available Monday – Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m. & Sunday at 10 a.m.. You are allowed to enter ONLY through the Food Court and walk the Dillard’s Wing until the Mall opens for business. All Mall Walkers must fill out a Mall Walkers Application and receive a Mall Walkers Badge that can be obtained from Mall Security.
